The ESP8266 ESP-01 12V 2 Channels WiFi Relay Module serves as an efficient Smart Home Remote Control Switch, utilizing the ESP-01 as its WiFi module and supporting compatibility with 8-bit MCU chips. A straightforward configuration allows users to manage the dual relay wirelessly via a mobile application on the local area network.

Functions:

  • Equipped with a high-performance STM8S103 microprocessor alongside the ESP-01 WiFi module.

  • The module supports two operational modes:

  •         Mode 1: Direct mobile phone connection to the WiFi module.

  •         Mode 2: Mobile phones and WiFi modules connect through a router simultaneously.

  •         Additional functionality: Functions as a USB relay when the ESP-01 is removed.

  • Transmission range: In an open environment, the maximum reliable transmission distance is 100M when the mobile phone is directly connected to the WiFi module.

  • When the WiFi module and mobile phone are connected via the router, the transmission distance is contingent upon the router’s signal strength.

  • Utilises Smartconfig technology via the mobile app to facilitate the configuration of WiFi credentials, with a feature to remember the configured username and password.

  • Incorporates a 5V, 10A//250V AC and 10A//30V DC relay capable of operating continuously for up to 100,000 cycles, featuring diode discharge protection and a short response time.

  • Includes mode selection on the board and a real-time working status indicator.

  • Features a reserved UART debug interface and an STM8 SWIM programming download interface.

Specifications:

  • Transmission Distance (m): 400

  • Relay Channels: 2

  • Trigger Voltage (VDC): 12

  • Switching Voltage (VAC): 250@10A

  • Switching Voltage (VDC): 30@10A

  • Baud Rate: 9600

  • Dimensions (Length x Width x Height in mm): 59 x 40 x 20

  • Weight (gm): 60

Operating Instructions:

Before use, gather the following tools:

  • 5V/1A power adapter and the “ESP Touch–Demo” app

  • Step 1: Connect the positive and negative terminals of the 12V/1A power adapter to IN+ and IN- of the module, respectively.

  • Step 2: Install the “ESP Touch–Demo” app on your Android device. For the initial setup, use Mode 2 to configure the WiFi account and password for the ESP-01 module.

  • Step 3: Install “Easy TCP–20” on your Android device, which serves as a TCP transmission tool for sending relay control commands. Click “SWITCH” and enter the control commands and names in HEX format using the provided interface.

Instructions for Operating Modes and Additional Functionality:

Operating Mode 1 (Mobile phone connected to the ESP-01 module):

  • Power up the ESP-01 module. After about 4 seconds, the green light will change from off to flashing every 2 seconds, indicating that configuration is complete.

  • Connect your mobile device to the AP hotspot signal emitted by the ESP–01 module.

  • Open the “EasyTCP–20” app and click “CONNECT”. Upon successful connection, the green light will transition from flashing every 2 seconds to a steady state. Click the gray box to send commands for relay control.

Operating Mode 2 (Mobile phones and WiFi modules connected via routers):

  • Power up the ESP–01 module; the green light will start blinking slowly. Press the S1 button to switch to Mode 2. The blue light will activate, and after about 1 minute, it will flash every 0.5 seconds, indicating it is awaiting configuration via the “ESP Touch–Demo” app.

  • Ensure your phone is connected to the router. Open the “ESP Touch- Demo” app, input the router password, and click “Confirm”.

  • Wait for successful configuration. The app will display the ESP-01 IP address (e.g., 192.168.0.189), confirming the module is connected to the router and will remember the credentials for future connections (typically 20-60 seconds).

  • Note that the 192.168.0.189 IP address is dynamically assigned by the router and may change upon reconnection. Check the current IP address in the router’s device list.

  • Open the “Easy TCP–20” app and click “CONNECT”. After a successful connection, the green light will change from flashing every 2 seconds to steady. Use the gray box to send relay control commands.

Important Notes:

  • First-time configuration of the WiFi password may take longer (approximately 1 minute). Subsequent boot-ups will require about 20 seconds for automatic reconnection.

  • To change the router, you can either restart the module or press the S2 button (this will erase the stored WiFi credentials). Configure the ESP–01 WiFi details under Mode 2.

  • If the ESP–01 module loses connection due to weak router signals, the green light will turn off while attempting to reconnect. During this time, the key will be inactive. Once the green light resumes a 2-second slow flash, it indicates reconnection attempts.

  • In Modes 1 and 2, the green light must flash for 2 seconds or remain steady to indicate readiness for configuration. The key will be inactive during this time.
