The DRV8833 is a dual H-bridge motor driver IC designed for bidirectional control of two brushed DC motors operating between 2.7V and 10.8V. It provides a continuous current of up to 1.2 A per channel, with the ability to handle peak currents of up to 2 A per channel for short durations. This makes it well-suited for small, low-voltage motors.
The board comes pre-assembled with surface-mount components, including the DRV8833 chip, and includes an FET for reverse polarity protection.
Compared to other drivers, the DRV8833 offers several advantages such as a higher peak current capacity (2 A vs. 1.5 A per channel), optional integrated current limiting, and eliminates the need for an external logic voltage supply.
