The ESP-01 ESP8266 Serial Wi-Fi Wireless Transceiver Module is a self-contained system-on-chip (SoC) featuring an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, enabling any microcontroller to connect to your Wi-Fi network. The ESP8266 can either host an application or offload all Wi-Fi networking functions from another application processor. Each ESP8266 module comes pre-loaded with firmware that includes an AT command set, allowing you to easily connect it to your Arduino and gain Wi-Fi functionality comparable to that of a Wi-Fi Shield right out of the box. This module is highly cost-effective and benefits from a large, growing community.
Equipped with substantial onboard processing and storage capabilities, the module can be integrated with sensors and other application-specific devices through its GPIOs, requiring minimal development effort upfront and during runtime. Its high level of integration reduces the need for extensive external circuitry, including the front-end module, which is designed to occupy minimal PCB space. The ESP8266 supports APSD for VoIP applications and can interface with Bluetooth coexisting devices, featuring a self-calibrated RF that ensures functionality under various operating conditions without the need for external RF components.

Note: The ESP8266 Module does not support 5V to 3V logic shifting and will require an external Logic Level Converter. Please avoid powering it directly from your 5V development board.
