The ESP-12E ESP8266 WiFi Module is a self-contained system on a chip (SoC) that includes an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, enabling any microcontroller to connect to your WiFi network. The ESP8266 can either host an application or offload all Wi-Fi networking functions from another application processor. This module comes preloaded with AT command firmware, providing functionality similar to an Arduino WiFi shield, but it also allows you to upload different firmware to develop your own applications using the module's memory and processor. It is a cost-effective solution with extensive and growing community support.
Equipped with an onboard 80MHz low-power 32-bit processor, the module is suitable for custom firmware development. This capability allows it to host small web pages without the need for an external controller. The ESP8266 supports APSD for VoIP applications and Bluetooth coexistence interfaces, featuring a self-calibrated RF that enables it to function under various operating conditions without requiring additional RF components.
