This IR reflective sensor module uses the TCRT5000 IR sensor to detect color and distance. It includes an IR transmitter and receiver. The transmitter continuously emits infrared signals, which reflect off nearby objects and are detected by the receiver.
This module is commonly used in line-following robots and object-sorting robots, as it can distinguish between white and black surfaces. The sensor’s measuring range is 1mm to 8mm, with an optimal detection point around 2.5mm. A built-in potentiometer allows sensitivity adjustments. When powered on, the IR LED emits continuously. If the reflected IR light is strong enough, the receiver detects it and outputs a LOW signal on the DO pin.
