TEC1-12703 Thermoelectric Cooler 3A Peltier Module

The TEC1-12703 Thermoelectric Cooler Peltier Module operates on the principles of the Peltier Thermoelectric Effect and consists of 127 semiconductor couples within a 30mm x 30mm area. Commonly referred to as TECs or Peltier modules, these devices create a temperature difference across their surfaces; one side becomes hot while the other becomes cool. This allows them to either heat or cool an object, depending on the side used, and they can also generate electricity from the temperature differential.

This Peltier module functions effectively as long as the heat is dissipated from the hot side. Upon activation, the hot side heats up quickly while the cold side cools down rapidly. If the heat from the hot side is not removed—using a heat sink or similar device—the Peltier will reach a state of stasis and cease to function effectively. It is advisable to use an old computer CPU heatsink or another metal block to draw heat away from the hot side. In our testing, we were able to achieve such significant cooling on the cold side that it became uncomfortable to touch.

A thermoelectric cooling (TEC) module is a semiconductor-based component that acts as a small heat pump. When a DC power source is applied, heat is transferred from one side of the module to the other, creating a cold and hot side. These modules are widely used in various industrial applications, including computer CPUs, CCDs, portable refrigerators, and medical instruments.

They are also known as thermoelectric cooling modules, thermoelectric modules, and Peltier modules.

Operating Tips:-

1. Do not exceed Imax or Vmax when operating a module.

2. Please carry out moisture protection options (sealing) in final application use.

3. Life expectancy: 200,000 hours.

4. Failure rate based on longtime testings: 0.2%.

Important Note - Heat side requires heat sink all the time. Do not run this device with a power supply more than a few seconds without a heatsink mounted to the device!
