The Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2 is an excellent little camera developed for Raspberry Pi boards. It contains an 8-megapixel Sony IMX219 image sensor for capturing clear and vibrant photographs. You can also capture films in several resolutions, including 1080p30, 720p60, and 640x480p90.
It's easy to connect to your Raspberry Pi using the CSI interface. This Raspberry Pi camera is small, about 25mm x 23mm x 9mm, and weighs just over 3 grams, making it perfect for projects where space and weight matter.
Whether you want to set up a security camera, try motion detection, or make time-lapse videos, this camera for Raspberry Pi boards is a flexible choice. It works with the latest software on the Raspbian Operating System, so it's simple to use!
Step 1 – Power Down: Turn off your Raspberry Pi and disconnect it from power before connecting the camera.
Step 2 – Locate CSI Port: Find the Camera Serial Interface (CSI) connector located near the HDMI port on your Raspberry Pi board.
Step 3 – Insert Ribbon Cable: Gently lift the latch on the CSI port, insert the camera’s ribbon cable with the metal contacts facing the HDMI port, and close the latch securely.
Step 4 – Enable Camera Interface: Power on your Raspberry Pi, open the terminal, and enable the camera interface from the configuration menu. Reboot once the setting is saved.
Step 5 – Test Camera Connection: After rebooting, open a terminal and run a simple camera preview command to check if the camera is detected and functional.
Step 6 – Capture a Photo: Use a still image capture command to take a test photo and verify that the image is saved successfully.
Step 7 – Record a Video: Use a video recording command to capture a short clip and check for smooth video playback.
Step 8 – Mount Securely: Attach the camera firmly inside your case or project enclosure, ensuring the ribbon cable is not twisted or strained.
